January 22, 2010

Dear Parents,

It looks as if we have returned to winter weather- complete with snow and colder temperatures. Most children did come to school appropriately dressed for the colder temperatures, but there were a few who did not bring warm coats, hats, boots or gloves with them. Please be sure your child leaves home every day dressed for winter in Vermont. Please check out our school website for information on frostbite.

Bread baking has been very successful- many loaves have been donated and many have gone home with students. First graders traveled to Lebanon Opera House to see Strega Nona on Friday. And Friday was Winter Activities- and the end of the first 3 week session.

SCHOOL CLOSINGS

With recent storms this is a perfect opportunity to review our notification for school closings. Alert Now is in place- test calls were done in the fall. If there is a school closing/delayed opening and you do not receive a phone call, please let us know and we will follow up to make sure you receive a call the next time. Announcements are also made on television Channel 3 and Channel 31 and radio stations WDEV, WYKR and KIXX. An announcement will also be on our answering machine here at school.

REPORT CARDS

Report cards will be sent home Monday, January 25th. In order to verify that each parent receives their child's report card, we ask that you sign and return the envelope. We do not hold parent conferences at this time, but if you have any questions or concerns about your child's report card, please feel free to schedule an appointment.

WINTER ACTIVITY PROGRAM

Today ends the first session of the Winter Activity Program. Please pick up sleds on Friday afternoon. Next Friday, January 29 is the start of the second session and that might mean that your child(ren) is participating in a new activity. Please be sure to label all of your child's equipment and to send your children with layers of warm clothing. Please drop off equipment at the back entrance.
