Dear Parents,

You may have heard on the news recently about the results of the state assessment (called NECAP) that was given to every child in grades 3-8 throughout the state. That information is crucial for us, as a school, to determine how our programs are currently helping every learner develop new skills and what we need to focus on to improve our students' performance. Individual student scores will be mailed home. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call.

SCHOOL CHARTER CHANGE

The Board of Trustees of our school are investigating the merits of changing our unique tax status. Most town governments in Vermont collect school taxes and provide the funds to run the school. When the Bradford Academy and Graded School District was incorporated in 1893 it had the authority to collect its own taxes. Only a few schools still continue this process. The Selectboard and the Trustees have charged a committee to investigate the pros and cons of such a change. The agenda for the first meeting is printed below. We hope to have parents involved in this process.

If you are interested in serving on the committee please contact Jessica Bean, Administrative Assistant at (802) 222-4727 ext. 304 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

NOTE FROM BRADFORD YOUTH SPORTS

Although we greatly appreciate the fan support, we do not allow unaccompanied children at youth sports events. We graciously ask that an adult accompany and take responsibility for their children at all games or that the children do not attend. We also ask that parents remind their children to be respectful of the gym, other fans and the equipment. We need to leave the gymnastic mats alone and not bounce balls or play in the lobby area. The school extends BYS the courtesy of having first rights to the use of the gym, and we in no way want to jeopardize this privilege.

Thank you, BYS Board
