SOLAR GRANT FOR BES

In January of 2010, Bradford Elementary School (BES) was awarded a $50,000 US Department of Energy grant to place solar hot water and PV panels on our roof and begin to investigate and learn about renewable energy. Our vision is to show the students the power of the sun and monitor how energy can be produced renewably. The students will monitor the electricity production, the CO2 saved and the economic benefits to the community. The installation will be done by the Electronic Technology/Residential Wiring students at River Bend Career & Technical Center (RBCTC) at Oxbow High School and will expose them to a new and growing avenue of green jobs. This project is just the latest step the school has taken towards creating a environmentally aware and engaged student who is developing green habits for a lifetime while fulfilling the demands of Vermont's science curriculum.

NOTE FROM BRADFORD YOUTH SPORTS

Although we greatly appreciate the fan support, we do not allow unaccompanied children at youth sports events. We graciously ask that an adult accompany and take responsibility for their children at all games or that the children do not attend. We also ask that parents remind their children to be respectful of the gym, other fans and the equipment. We need to leave the gymnastic mats alone and not bounce balls or play in the lobby area. The school extends BYS the courtesy of having first rights to the use of the gym, and we in no way want to jeopardize this privilege. Thank you, BYS Board.
