Biggest & Best
At the annual Bradford Elementary School (BES) end of school picnic, the results of the first  "Hunt for Bradford's Biggest and Best Trees" were announced. The contest was sponsored by BES’s Kids Connect program and the Bradford Conservation Commission and ran through the month of May. The largest tree measured was a White Pine from the front yard of the stone Cliff Vet. Clinic and it measured 168 inches in circumference, 90 feet high, and had an average crown spread of 70 ft. It was submitted and measured by Jacob, Otis and Dan Hudnut.

The tree with the largest circumference or the tree too large to hug was an oak tree that measured 16 feet and 8 inches and was discovered by Audrey Conrad.  Second grader Sullivan French discovered the most unusual tree. It is a tree in front of the Burgess Farm which has a long history including surviving three fires.  Pictures of the winning trees will be posted on the school’s web site. We hope this contest become an annual tradition on Bradford so we discover all of the beautiful and unique trees in Bradford. Thanks go to the Bradford Conservation Commission and Hubert’s of Woodville who helped support the contest.
